Between October 22 and 23, a two-day study trip for the TEX-DAN project was held, organized by the DDRIÜ project partner, Fachhochschule Salzburg. The event focused on sustainability and circular solutions within the textile and design sectors of the Danube Region.

The program provided an opportunity for project partners and relevant stakeholders to strengthen cooperation and knowledge sharing. Representatives from Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia also participated in the event, presenting their activities and ideas for joint development within the framework of a „stakeholder matchmaking” event.

Participants in the study trip also visited two local artisan workshops, where they were introduced to the techniques of traditional textile and leather craftsmanship. The Kirchtag umbrella-making workshop, with a history spanning over a hundred years, preserves the traditions of Austrian craftsmanship, while Christina Roth‘s leather goods workshop represents modern sustainable craftsmanship based on natural materials.

As part of the program, participants also contributed to two international events – „Full Circle: From Lessons Learned to Future Possibilities” and „Circular Solutions in Textile & Food” – which showcased the connections between Interreg programs and the circular economy. The TEX-DAN project was presented at the event by Zoltán Bendó, Project Manager, and Dr. Ricard Parrilla Guix, lecturer at FH Salzburg, who introduced the pilot actions and innovative circular solutions applicable to the textile industry.

The project is co-financed by the European Union and the Hungarian State within the framework of the Interreg Danube Region programme.
