The first study trip of the RESONANCE project took place in Coimbra, Portugal, where participants got a firsthand look at how sustainability and innovation are becoming a natural part of urban development.
The goal of the RESONANCE project is to promote the spread of energy-conscious, innovative, and sustainable urban solutions across Europe.
One of the most interesting elements of the program was the presentation of a pilot project in which electric car charging points integrated into the public lighting network were developed. This smart solution simultaneously supports the greening of urban transport and the more efficient utilisation of existing infrastructure.
The presented charging point has a capacity of 3.5 kW, and its use is extremely simple:
- users can start charging and pay via a mobile application,
- the service is tax-exempt, so only the actual cost of the energy consumed has to be paid,
- the infrastructure can be fitted into the existing public lighting network, thus requiring no separate investment or major modifications.
This solution is not only a technological innovation but also a step towards sustainable urban living. With this pilot project, Coimbra demonstrates how urban infrastructure can be developed to be simultaneously economical, environmentally friendly, and resident-friendly.
During the exchange of experience, participants gained insight into the cooperation between the local municipality and the developers, as well as the mindset driving the green transition of Portuguese cities. The event also created an excellent opportunity for project partners to draw inspiration for the development of their own municipalities.
The participation of the South Transdanubia Regional Innovation Agency in the RESONANCE Interreg Europe project is co-financed by the European Union and Hungary.
