The autumn of 2024 provided the Agency opportunities to promote its work and showcase its achievements.
Medical technology
At the Researchers’ Night on 27 September 2024, in the aula of the Medical School of the University of Pécs, with the help of the „innovation showroom” transferred from France together by the university and STRIA within the framework of the Medtech4 Europe project, Prof. Dr. András Lukács and his colleagues promoted their education and training portfolio and their research results adopted by small and medium-sized enterprises. Although the Medtech4 Europe project was closed on 30 November 2022, the Researchers’ Night illustrated that the results of the project are well utilized even up to now.

Geothermal energy
We participated in a civil training on 21 November 2024 that was organized by the EMLA Association (Budapest), the Pécsi Zöld Kör (Pécs) and the Zöld Kapcsolat Association (Miskolc) in Pécs. The half-day training on the enforcement of environmental rights, illustrated with practical examples, was followed by a roundtable discussion. As part of the discussion, the planned Pécs “hot rock” geothermal energy project was also introduced. To this project STRIA – since Zsolt Pálmai assisted in expert capacity the delivery of the geothermal energy position paper adopted by the European Committee of the Regions in spring 2024 – can provide assistance with advice and the involvement of domestic and European construction companies experienced in the technology.

Greening of agglomeration areas, energy communities
The series of ViaFuturi conference was launched in 2006 at the initiative of the IME (Interregional Renewable Energy Association Cluster), with the active participation of the
Faculty of Economics of the University of Pécs. The event on 28 November 2024 was the 9th ViaFuturi conference, which was organized as the closing of the OTKA project called “Fighting climate change with resilient systems”.
STRIA contributed to the discussion on the above topic with two presentations. The presentation called “Green-Blue Axis: Sustainable Urban Development in the Lisbon Region” focused on an international good practice. It is a Portuguese development that improves quality of life and biodiversity, and we discovered it within the framework of the PROMOTER project. The presentation with the title of “HERCULES-CE project” introduced the participants to the goals, partners and main activities of our project that deals with Central European energy communities.
