The South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency Nonprofit Ltd. continued its company-level assessments supporting the digital and green transition of Hungarian food-sector and food-wholesale enterprises in the framework of the RISE – Rising competences & skills in less developed Danube regions through food sector cross-topic innovations project, implemented under the Interreg Danube Region Programme.
Recently, three member companies of the MIRBEST Cluster participated in the RISE assessment and interview process:
- Halker Kft. – Balatonboglár
- Spilák Kereskedelmi Kft. – Egervár
- Baromfiudvar 2002 Kft. – Debrecen
The companies involved are important actors in the Hungarian food wholesale and HORECA supply chain, and their participation therefore provided particularly valuable practical experience for the project. The assessments made it possible to test the RISE methodology in a cluster-based business environment, with companies of different sizes and operational characteristics.
During the company consultations, several areas relevant for future development were reviewed. In the case of Halker Kft. and Spilák Kereskedelmi Kft., the assessments focused on digital readiness and energy efficiency, while in the case of Baromfiudvar 2002 Kft., digital readiness was complemented by a focus on material circularity. In each case, the assessment areas were adapted to the operational characteristics of the companies and to the toolset applied within the project.
The aim of the RISE project is to provide practical support to food-sector and related enterprises in the Danube Region in identifying development directions that can strengthen their competitiveness, efficiency and sustainability. The purpose of the process was not certification or ranking, but the identification of practical development directions that can support companies in preparing strategic decisions related to the digital and green transition.
The participation of MIRBEST Cluster member companies is also important because cluster-based cooperation creates an opportunity for the assessment and mentoring approach applied in the RISE project to be used by a wider group of companies in the future. For companies linked to the cluster, this may provide a longer-term professional support framework for the more conscious preparation, monitoring and further development of digital improvements, energy-efficiency measures and circular business solutions.
