The development of software for the energy modelling of the hydrogen system in Pécs has started

Home / News / The development of software for the energy modelling of the hydrogen system in Pécs has started

Two-day meeting in Ljubljana.

The Croatian Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute and the University of Zagreb presented here the concept of the software developed within the HyEfre project, which determines the locations and capacities of electrolyzers to be installed in a Slovenian, Polish and Hungarian region. The calculations take into account the surplus electricity produced by renewable energy sources, so that the electrolysers will produce green hydrogen from water.

The hydrogen can be used for energy storage, fuel cell vehicles and various industrial processes. The South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency is supporting the Hydrogen Centre of the University of Pécs, which is carrying out model calculations and developing technical solutions for the development of a hydrogen ecosystem in and around Pécs. In the near future, the use of hydrogen will be important in the field of energy storage, ensuring the utilisation of the energy surplus generated by solar panels. The software will be tested in Pécs in the first half of 2025.
