The first technical meeting and Steering Committee meeting of the OPTI-UP project took place in Italy, organized by the Agency for Mobility and Local Public Transport of Modena (AMAM – Agenzia per la Mobilità e il Trasporto Pubblico Locale di Modena).

Data-Driven Transport Planning in the Emilia Romagna Region

During the day-and-a-half event, held on October 15-16, 2024, the Central European partnership of the project reviewed a comprehensive analysis of local public transport, typically bus-based (characteristics of public transport networks, number of vehicles, changes in passenger numbers, financial data and sustainability of operation, and an overview of the organizations involved in local mobility planning and their scopes of authority, etc.).

Pilot Actions for Sustainable Transport

Discussions also covered the so-called pilot actions that all participating cities in the project must implement to make their local public transport more sustainable and accessible. These pilot interventions generally test the suitability of the public transport solutions proposed in the project, usually by modifying an existing local public transport route or introducing a new route into the timetable.

The program in Modena concluded with a presentation (site visit) by the Modena Mobility and Local Public Transport Agency. In this context, participants learned about the specifics of the Modena public transport network, the planning of the line network and the services provided, as well as the ongoing public procurement for the current concession of the bus service.

The next international meeting of the OPTI-UP project is scheduled to take place in Paks, Hungary in April 2025.

The OPTI-UP project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and Hungary within the Interreg Central Europe Program.
