2025 március 14-én megrendezésre került a Danube WETlands RESToration röviden DaWetRest projekt bemutatkozó eseménye, amelyen szerveztünk a DDRIÜ Dél-Dunántúli Regionális Innovációs Ügynökség Nonprofit Kft. társult partnerként vett részt. A Pannon Egyetemen tartott konferencia a projekt keretében megkezdett tevékenységek, eddig elért eredmények ismertetésére, valamint a DEMO területek bemutatkozására adott lehetőséget.
The goal of DaWetRest is to develop specific, experimental solutions for the challenges facing the ecosystems of inland and coastal wetlands in the Danube basin. These challenges relate to biodiversity, water quality and availability, resilience and/or neutrality to climate change, and the socio-economic benefits for local communities. The innovative solutions are being developed with the involvement of local communities and key regional and European stakeholders.
Following the introduction of the 3 DEMO areas—DEMO Middle Danube (MD), DEMO Lower Danube (LD), and DEMO Danube Delta (DD)—researchers from the University of Pannonia gave presentations on various topics within the project's scope. These included crucial water management issues related to the Danube basin's wetlands, the expected effects of climate change on wetlands, and the results of limnological and algological surveys of the Danube's backwaters.
