On February 27, 2026, STRIA Nonprofit Ltd. organized an online stakeholder consultation focusing on road safety developments along the Hungarian sections of EuroVelo 6 and 14. The primary objective of the meeting was to present international cycling Good Practices that can serve as a foundation for shaping Hungary’s upcoming PROMOTER action plan.
The event demonstrated how strategic planning, practical expertise, and international inspiration can come together to support a shared goal: creating safer, more sustainable, and more liveable cycling environments.
Broad Professional Participation
The consultation brought together representatives from the National Development Center, the Ministry of Construction and Transport, and the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development, as well as local government officials and mobility experts.
This diverse professional background ensured that road safety was addressed from multiple perspectives, including infrastructure development, policy planning, local implementation, and mobility management.
International Good Practices: Inspiration from Across Europe
A key highlight of the consultation was the presentation of cycling Good Practices from three European cities:
- Sintra (Portugal)
- Ostend (Flanders, Belgium)
- Rēzekne (Latvia)
These examples provided more than technical solutions; they reflected a comprehensive approach in which infrastructure, regulation, education, and stakeholder engagement function as a cohesive system. The shared experiences highlighted that successful cycling development requires coordinated action and long-term commitment.
STRIA Nonprofit Ltd. remains committed to fostering professional dialogue and international cooperation in order to support the continuous development of Hungary’s cycling infrastructure and road safety initiatives.
The PROMOTER Interreg Europe project is implemented by the co-financing of the European Regional Development Fund and Hungary.
