Up to €45 000 for business plan development. The European Energy Communities Facility (EECF) has launched its first call for proposals, with the support of the European Commission, to help start-up and developing energy communities to develop their business plans and establish their operations.

What is the call about?

The call, which opened on 2 June 2025, offers energy communities:

  • up to €45,000,
  • to prepare a business plan, technical and financial concept,
  • to apply for funding, and selected communities will receive additional support for training, mentoring and international exchange of experience.

Who can apply?

Registered or start-up energy communities from across the European Union, including Hungary.
Communities committed to renewable energy production, local energy supply, energy efficiency or consumer participation.

Important deadline

Applications can be submitted until 30 September 2025.
Applications can be submitted online via the official platform.

What is included in the grant?

  • A detailed business plan,
  • technical and financial feasibility study,
  • legal advice,
  • and participation in a European-level capacity building programme.

This call for proposals is particularly useful for Hungarian energy communities that are about to launch a project or want to expand their activities but are not yet ready to do so.
