Danube4Rural.com took place in Moravske Toplice, Slovenia. Partners from countries in the Danube region gathered there to collaborate on strategies and tools for attracting remote workers to depopulated regions, with the aim of strengthening rural areas.
The event offered a rich programme of professional and social activities. Participants were given insight into the project’s main objectives and the challenges ahead, after which they took part in thematic workshops. These explored issues such as designing policy instruments to support teleworking, identifying the characteristics of the target group, and making rural areas more attractive to digital workers.

Collective reflection was also supported by a creative team-building activity in which participants designed their own “Remote Work Village.” The project’s communication strategy and the potential for involving local communities were also highlighted, and presentations of other relevant initiatives, such as the RurALL project, explored potential synergies.
The kick-off meeting helped the partners to develop a well-organised cooperation based on common values – which in the long term will support the digital, social and economic empowerment of the rural areas of the Danube Region.
