South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency Network
The South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency Network was set up in January 2005, as a result of a tender financed by the Innovation Fund. The tender supported the operation of the network until 31st December 2007.
The coordinator of the network was the Regional Innovation Agency, operating as an organizational unit of the South Transdanubian Regional Development Agency Nonprofit Corporation.
Other members of the network were the knowledge bases dominant in the economic development of the region: the University of Pécs (UP), the University of Kaposvár (UK), and other transfer organizations for corporate development like the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Pécs-Baranya, the Innovation and Technology Development Centre, the Entrepreneurs Centre of Somogy County Public Foundation and the Kapos Innovation Transfer Centre Public Company.
The aims of the STRIA network were the economic development of the region and the improvement of the regional innovation potential, as defined in the Regional Innovation Strategy created in 2004.
For the competitiveness and for accommodation to the ever-changing environment, the innovation strategy of the region must be regularly reconsidered and if needed, it must be actualized with the help of the region’s innovation experts.
Another important aim was to provide transfer to the enterprises and to better utilize the research results of the regional knowledge bases. For this, the Research Utilization Offices of the partner institutions – UP and UK – monitored their ongoing researches and created a supply cadastre about their marketable results (the cadastre created at the University of Pécs can be downloaded from the Documents under the title “Researchers, perspectives, achievements”).
he transfer organizations of the network were – and still are - in active cooperation with the region’s micro, small and medium enterprises. They provided information for enterprises about potential partners and innovation results, as well as offered help in domestic and international tender monitoring, grant management and project management.
